Privacy Policy

How we handle your personal data.

This policy explains how Instruction Ltd collects, uses and protects personal data when you use our website or get in touch with us. We are the data controller for the information described here.

Last updated: June 2026

Who we are

Instruction Ltd is registered in England and Wales (company number 16642974), with its registered office at Eastwick, Combe, Hungerford, Berkshire, RG17 9EG. We also operate an engineering team based in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

What we collect

We only collect what we need. That includes:

  • Information you give us - when you complete a form on our site, we collect details like your name, email address, firm name and whatever you choose to tell us about your enquiry.
  • Information collected automatically - basic technical and usage data such as your IP address, browser type and how you interact with the site, gathered through cookies and analytics tools.

How we use it

  • To respond to your enquiry and assess whether we're a good fit to work together.
  • To arrange and hold conversations with you.
  • To operate, secure and improve the website.

Our legal basis

Where you contact us or submit an enquiry, we process your data on the basis of our legitimate interest in responding to you and exploring a potential working relationship, and/or to take steps at your request before entering into a contract. Where required, we rely on your consent - for example for certain cookies - which you can withdraw at any time.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your data. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us run our business - for example our website hosting, email and scheduling tools. These providers process data on our behalf under appropriate agreements.

International transfers

Instruction operates in both the UK and Sri Lanka. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we take steps to ensure it is protected in line with UK data protection law, using appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses. This concerns enquiry and contact data only - client project data is handled separately under each engagement's own terms.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry and contact data only for as long as we need it - to respond to you, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you get back in touch - after which it is deleted or anonymised.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, get in touch. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

Our site uses cookies to function and to help us understand how it's used. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings.
